We're taking a break!

We're taking a break!

This is a tough post to write! I have a bit of sad news to share; after the publication of Issue 8, I will be putting Moorit on an indefinite break.

Firstly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has joined Moorit along the way. Thank you to the Kickstarter backers, designers, tech editors, photographers, models, yarn supporters, readers, subscribers, stockists and everyone in between!

I started Moorit in 2020 because I love crochet and because I knew crocheters deserved a beautiful publication made just for them. Which is why this decision has been so difficult… the last thing I want to do is let down my fellow crocheters!
But this is the right decision for me personally. It may be no surprise, especially for folks who have followed the recent announcements from other craft magazines, that the financials are not on our side, particularly in this current moment. But beyond the business side of things, I am just plain burnt out. Producing Moorit is a joy, but helming a one-woman business is a lot of work. And there are aspects I find a lot less enjoyable than others (here’s looking at you, sales and advertising).

So, once Issue 8 launches, I will be taking a breather. Moorit will not return in the same form, but I love it too much to say goodbye completely. So while I take time to rest, I’ll also be re-assessing and brainstorming in the background. Let’s just say, I do have some ideas already!

Now for the good news. Print and digital copies will still be available to purchase. And even better, back issues are all discounted up to 50% off so I can reclaim some storage space in my flat!

Pre-orders for Issue 8 will open Friday 14 Feb (aka Valentine’s Day). And here's your first preview... the 'Ahoy There' issue is indeed focussed on menswear, but yours truly did model a few accessories 💁🏻‍♀️
